Summer Reading Recommendations

So it’s possible that I’ve been putting off this post because I’m a voracious reader.  I kept telling myself I’d read “just one more chapter” before I started working.  And three (long) chapters later, I finally forced myself to put my book down.  Ironic, considering this week’s #VlogMom topic, don’t you think?

Barbara from A Life In Balance asks this week’s question, a perfect topic for summer.

VlogMom What is on your summer reading list

So I tend to read in a few genres.  And I read a lot, as in a book every couple days, which means I’m always searching for inspiration.  What are you reading this summer that I shouldn’t Miss?  I also have a ton of great recommendations, too, as I’m a reviewer over at 5 Minutes for Books where I get to share my thoughts and opinions about books I read.

Check out my recommendations and let me know what you think of my reading philosophy.  And more importantly?  What should I read next?

  1. I do that a lot, too. And I use the Amazon recommendations a lot.

  2. I like to binge read various authors. My favorite library puts up little signs recommending other authors if you like the one you’re looking at.

Unfortunately, I have a ton of cookbooks on my list. I made sure to pick up 6 fiction books while I was at the library last night so I don’t dream of saucepans and garlic.

    • That’s great idea. I’m definitely going to have to suggest that to our local library. And umm don’t talk to me about cookbooks. I have a little obsession with them :)

  3. I love your summer reading philosophy! And that seems like such a simple, great way to find new books I can’t believe I’ve never thought of it before. You’re brilliant!

  4. Hello!!!!! I am so glad to see you’re doing well! (although I can’t believe you made me do math to comment … not my strong suit … hahaha)

I love your the trick about seeing who blurbed the book, too! Another thing I do a lot is go to Amazon, type in an author I like and then scroll through the “recommended picks” or whatever they’re called that come up at the bottom. I love reading in the summer!

    • I don’t know why I don’t do Amazon more. Other than the fact that I generally am doing it when I’m physically AT the library and realizing that I have no books left to read by that author. Good idea on that one – if I can plan ahead :)

  5. Sounds like a fun way to pick out your reads. I tend to read books that usually have author recs from authors I know about already. And sometimes love. So maybe I do the reverse. I find the reads by finding the reviewers first? :)

I am reading And The Mountains Echoed right now. Great read. Need to go read some more of it before bed!
