For all those moms out there who don’t pamper themselves enough. For the people who work hard on their feet all day long. Or for the caregivers who never get a break. For all those who need a little something special, this brown sugar cookie scrub is for you!
Me? Pampering my feet is not the highest thing on my priority list, but when I take the time to do it, I never regret it. There are all sorts of expensive and amazing products on the market, but my personal favorites are the ones I make myself, like this brown sugar cookie scrub.
This one is so easy that my nine year old daughter was able to help me make it and bottle it up. She thought it was pretty cool how quick it was to make. She was awfully disappointed when I told her that it wasn’t intended for her to eat.
Though technically all the ingredients are edible, they aren’t put together in a proportion that is meant to taste good. Nope, this brown sugar cookie scrub smells amazing and works great on your feet.
Brown Sugar Cookie Scrub Recipe
To make the brown sugar cookie scrub, gather your ingredients. If you’re anything like me, you already have them in your pantry, which makes it even easier.
In a mixing bowl, add the granulated and brown sugar. Mix them together to get a good blend so that you won’t end up with pockets of brown sugar and pockets of granulated sugar.
Add the oil, and your vanilla and stir until thoroughly combined and grainy.
At that point, simply scoop it into jars. You want this to remain tightly sealed to ensure your scent stays strong and nothing icky gets in the scrub. I picked up some adorable jars from Walmart for $1.87 each that have a snug seal on the lid that simply pulls off.
You could very easily put these into mason jars, as well. Because they’re glass, I always have them in a safe space in my bathroom on a shelf so that I don’t risk dropping it and breaking the jar.
If you’re making this for yourself, you’re pretty much done, though you could also tie a pretty ribbon on it. I made these as gifts for our graduating PTO members to remind them of how sweet they’ve been to volunteer their time helping us. For these, I printed out my thank you gift tag and pasted them to the tops of the jars. They turned out pretty well, and everyone loved with the gift. The gift tags are sized so that they could also fit inside the lid of a mason jar or be printed on cardstock for you to punch a hole and string it on a ribbon.
Whatever you do with this brown sugar cookie scrub, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. This recipe makes enough to fill one of the jars I picked up, and would be enough for about three 4 ounce mason jars. Feel free to adjust the recipe to make a larger or smaller batch. I made a triple batch for all our gifts, and it turned out perfectly.
Brown Sugar Cookie Scrub
This sugar scrub is amazing to help slough off dry skin, whether from your elbows or feet. It smells great and is a perfect gift, too!
Materials
- 1/2 c granulated sugar
- 1 c brown sugar
- 2/3 c oil (grapeseed, olive, etc)
- 2 T vanilla extract
Tools
- Glass jar
- mixing bowl
- spatula
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, mix together your brown sugar and granulated sugar. Once they are well blended, add the oil and vanilla.
- Using a spoon or spatula, mix until thoroguhly combined and the mixture is uniformly grainy.
- Spoon into a glass jar with a lid that seals. It is ready for immediate use or decorating for a gift.
