Every time the season changes, it brings about change in our lives, too. For some reason, fall seems to be the biggest transition time to me. It may be that the weather is cooling down and school has started, which always feels like and ending filled with loss to me. Or maybe it’s that I’m putting away my summer clothes and bundling up that brings out that urge to nest.
Whatever it is, when fall comes around, I’m not just focusing on football – much as I am watching and attending football games. Fall really brings about a change in my cooking and eating, too. And I don’t think I’m alone. I may be slightly more extreme in my switching, but you can bet that I’m moving into my kitchen.
Even today, I’m baking (and only partly because tomorrow is Mister Man’s birthday). I don’t have the urge to bake during the summer. And oddly not even as much in the spring. Fall becomes all about the comfort foods, the crock pot recipes, and the more hearty meals.
Oh yeah. And I turn on my oven, too. Tell me I’m not the only one who figuratively puts a “do not enter” sign on her oven during the hot months.
So what does fall mean to you? What are you changing now that fall has arrived – and I do mean really arrived, with it’s 40 degree mornings and leaves falling everywhere on the ground?
