I DO Like Green Eggs And Ham – Carnival Cruise’s Dr. Seuss Character Breakfast

As part of our complimentary Carnival Cruise over spring break, my family was also invited to join in the Green Eggs and Ham breakfast with Dr. Seuss characters. I was not otherwise compensated for writing this, and all opinions remain my own.
Enjoy the Cat in the Hat at Carnival Cruise's Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast. Have brunch with Suess at Sea when you sail on vacation. Fun for kids and adults with delicious menu choices.

I bought all the Dr. Seuss books when I was first pregnant with Mister Man. We still have them. When we had the opportunity to try out the Green Eggs and Ham breakfast with the Cat and the Hat and friends on our most recent Carnival Cruise, I jumped at the chance. Carnival generally offers two seatings on the last sea day for cruises that incorporate Seuss at Sea. With the cost of only $5 per person (children and adults), it fills up quickly. In fact, it filled so quickly that they created another seating on our cruise to accommodate the interest.

From start to finish, it was fun and delicious. Even before we got inside for our fantastic brunch, there were photo props set up for kids to pose for photos. It’s a small thing, but it was a great touch to help kids remain entertained while waiting. Fortunately, once the brunch opens, it’s a quick process to get seated and begin choosing your magical breakfast.

The menu for the Green Eggs and Ham breakfast reads like a Dr. Seuss book, and Little Miss is still quoting the poem for her much enjoyed Truffula Tree pancakes. “Those pancakes! Those pancakes! Stacked high as the trees. I’ve been searching my whole life for stacks such as these!” She appreciated that the kitchen accommodated her dairy allergy as easily for this special brunch as they did every other meal. Her pancakes looked different, but she was thrilled regardless. As with all meals, we ordered in advance the night before to allow the kitchen time to prepare. The menu contained some naturally dairy free options had we forgotten, however.

Mister Man ordered the Truffula Tree pancakes, as well, and I loved how they incorporated the colors of Dr. Seuss within them. This was the case throughout the meal from the special tablecloths and napkins to the uniforms for the waitstaff to the table decorations and more. We definitely felt transported, and it was a really fun way to start to wind down our cruise.

The menu includes plenty of choices, with a Dr. Seuss twist. No matter what you enjoy for breakfast, Carnival provides something. Choose cereal or omelets, steak and eggs or cereal-crusted French toast, or another item with a Seussical vibe. I chose the green eggs and ham. After all, I was at the Green Eggs and Ham breakfast, right? The kitchen created a great twist on an eggs Benedict (sans sauce), and only some pesto in the eggs for the green color would have made them better.

My husband chose the Belgian waffles – “From There to Here From Here to There Funny Belgian Waffles Are Everywhere.” Our dinner hostess recommended them, and he devoured the waffles. The red and blue sweet whipped cream come standard, but you can choose to have your waffles without them, as well.

The Green Eggs and Ham breakfast wouldn’t be complete, however, without the Cat in the Hat and his friends joining us. Characters appeared during quiet times of the brunch and visited each table in addition to taking photos. Bonus? You use your own camera, so you have no extra fees for a professional photographer. Even my 10 and 12 year old got into the spirit of the breakfast and giggled while posing with the various characters.

To our surprise, the brunch offered not only the Green Eggs and Ham breakfast menu (including moose juice and goose juice), but we had our choice of dessert, as well. How do you turn that down? We had two choices, and Mister Man couldn’t choose.

I loved the strawberry parfait, just a little sweet without being too heavy at the end of the meal.

The Green Eggs and Ham breakfast costs extra, but the smiles make it all worthwhile. $5 is a nominal price for this event. Carnival Cruise created a memorable experience that even my tweens enjoyed. You know we plan to sign up on our next cruise!

  1. We sailed on carnival triumph in February 2017 and suess at sea was offered. It was fun but not really a game changer. In all the extra activities added up to maybe an extra 4 hours of activities to do on a 5 day cruise. Fun but in my opinion a little over rated. I do agree that the green eggs and ham breakfast is fun and it’s only $5 per person. It reminds me of a character meal at Walt Disney world

It isn’t a game changer, no – but for $5 per person, it’s a neat add that my kids enjoyed, even though they are a little older. The food and presentation are unique and fun. We enjoyed it, and it sounds like you did, too.

  2. My husband & I are cruising on Carnival Liberty Feb 2 & I would love to attend this themed breakfast. Is it appropriate for adults with no children? Also, I noticed you said they made dairy free pancakes for your daughter. My husband is vegan, so I was wondering if they made them both milk & egg free. We’ve been on a few cruised and never got special orders for breakfast for him. Thank You for your post! Love it.

Have fun on the Liberty! When we were there, there were a few couples with no kids there, and it wasn’t awkward at all for them. I think everyone gets that Seuss is a hit for all ages. It’s definitely a fun breakfast! For these pancakes, I don’t know if they did, but I do know they’ve always been absolutely fantastic about our dietary issues for her. We always let the maitre’d know at the main restaurant right away when we get on board so that we can choose her meals the day before to ensure she has dairy free options. We like to do the brunch at sea, so for those day and the Seuss at Sea, we chose the breakfast items at dinner the night before, as well. This ensured that she had what she wanted to eat and no panic in the kitchen. Definitely ask your server in the dining room! (And thank you!)

This is so cute. We just booked a Carnival cruise for December and I know they have the Seuss and Sea.

    • Michelle says:

Oh how fun! I cannot wait to go on another cruise and need to work on booking one. You will have a blast – where are you going and when and all the other fun?
