Why I Love – And Hate – Blogging

February 28, 2013 by Michelle

I’ve been blogging for… a long time.  Like almost five years long time.  Along the way, I’ve come to find that there are things I absolutely adore about blogging.  That’s why I keep doing it, right?  At the same time, not everything is sunshine and roses.  It’s always a balancing act, but I don’t talk about it often.  This week’s #VlogMom question is perfect for my almost five year reflection.

What are your blogging loves and hates

So listen up as I share my thoughts.  And I welcome yours because yes, part of what I love about blogging is the community and the sharing.  Share with me, and then go discover some new bloggers to love by checking out what the other #VlogMom bloggers have to say.  Oops, I just gave away another of my favorite thing about blogging, didn’t I?  You’ll have to watch the vlog to find out what else I love about it!

Excellent Points! 🙂 I love the learning you get from fellow bloggers and right now I’m struggling with writer’s block so I’ll have to say that is my least favorite part.

Michelle, so far, everyone who has vlogged this week’s question has been blogging much longer than I have, so I’m learning great wisdom from the trenches 🙂 I hadn’t thought of my blog as a journal for my kids/family, and yet that makes perfect sense! It solidifies even more why I want to continue and honestly I wish I had started sooner.

And see, that’s exactly one of the reasons I listed, isn’t it? 🙂 Yay, I’m spot on. I wish I’d started sooner, too. I didn’t just because I felt like I wasn’t good enough but… who cares!

First…celebrity look a like: Elizabeth Perkins from Big! (Hope you don’t dislike her but I swear you could be her sister!)

Also, loving the list! I kinda wish I had thought of blogging about my kid when she was younger.

You know I’m going to have to go search out who that is, right? I’m so bad with knowing who people are. My husband thinks you’re nuts but it’s sorta fun watching him think about this. He’s currently going to look it up again. Tee hee!

My eldest son started a blog about his first child and kept it up pretty regularly until their second child was born. He tried to post things regularly about son #2, but after awhile he just didn’t have time any more, and his wife is not into blogging. But what a great idea–to use your blog to capture moments of your children’s lives!

Likes: I like getting to know people in other places and learning from them, too. Don’t likes: I feel guilty when I don’t post something very often, or sometimes for weeks at a time.

Totally get the time thing. If I were still working full time, I don’t know if I could do it… but I know so many people who share their children with family this way. And no – no need to feel guilty. I’ve gotten over not always posting!

Hi, I’m Heidi, coming to you from the LowCountry of South Carolina. I just wanted to add what I haven’t heard in vlogs about pet peeves. Its a couple of straight forward hates. I don’t like to scroll left to right, I don’t like something popping up to interrupt my reading, and I hate the noise the some great bloggers have become when they sell out to too much commercialization that I can’t figure out where the content is. That’s my .02 I love so much about blogging that I’ll take that to my own blog at http://www simplycarolinadreamz.com or the base of all my blogs http://www.withaz.net
    Happy Blogging.

I’m with you on the selling out. I like to read and comment on posts that are… posts. I’m good with reviews from time to time especially when they’re well-written and aren’t just shills but not when that’s ALL it is. And oh the popups! I actually had a video ad that WOULD NOT CLOSE on a site I visited today. Total pet peeve.
