Fit Update: Week 10 aka I’m Classy

March 18, 2013 by Michelle

I came to the realization at the beginning of these fit updates that yes, I am a class girl, and the classes keep me motivated and accountable.  They’re important for me to do, which is a little of why I was stressing about what I would do when my 8 week cardio fitness challenge ended.  I finally decided last week that with spring break and my sprained foot still healing and being gone for Blissdom that I would hold off on utilizing the two free months at the dance studio until April 1 when life is back to normal.

Bad idea.

Why?  Because since my cardio membership ended a week ago Friday, I went from doing cardio kickboxing and circuit training 5 days a week to… well, I did three BURST workouts last week at home.  That are around 15 minutes apiece (but intense at least).  And I cleaned my house really really well for three hours. And… yeah.

I’m disappointed in myself because I’d been doing more and I had broad goals of doing more.  A lot more.  But broad goals don’t do it for me because I have so many other things I “could” do first.  For just a minute, and then I’ll get to the exercising.  Except that just a minute turns into a project and then another project and before you know it, the wee ones are home from school and exercise for the day is shot.

So shame on me.  I know myself better than this, and yet I fooled myself into thinking I’d stay on track with no outside accountability.  On the plus side, I’ve been keeping track of my eating and doing well with that – I’ve rediscovered my love of sliced cucumbers, for example.

Today, I have a new goal.  I am crossing my fingers that I’ll be able to do the two fitness classes at Blissdom this weekend.  But the rest of this week, it’s back to looking at the park district fitness classes.  I need to buy a punch card and just attend those classes until I join the dance studio for real, though I’m thinking I should do that during spring break to take away any excuse I can feed myself.

Because apparently I can feed myself a lot of excuses.  I’m classy like that.

So how has your week gone ? Are you staying on track with your goals?  Link up below and let’s share the love!

I totally feel you…I LOVE classes! Unfortunately between time and money, I can’t take any, so I’m forced to work out at home. I am a huge fan of couch-to-5k! I do a little running each week (I prefer outside if the weather is cooperative) and my motivation is I know I need to do it every other day or I will feel like a slug the next time I run. Keeps me going! Oh, that, and having that 30 mins of bliss alone 😉

I know. Where I was at, the New Year special ran out, so it’s $75 a month for 5 day a week classes that aren’t flexible on time. And… I just can’t justify that. I SO miss them though! I am going to do C25K again once my foot fully heals, although maybe not all the way to the end. I get bored running 😉 But if I can do and stay at week 6, I’ll be happy.

Thanks, I hope so! 🙂 I did the Harley Pasternack Kinect workout yesterday, and it felt really good!

I haven’t found what works best for me. I actually really like using my treadmill at home more than going out, but I haven’t found the time to do it lately… Actually, I’ve just been too sick. My birthday present to me this week is to get back on the treadmill. Enjoy Blissdom! I’ve never been.

If I had a treadmill at home, I wouldn’t use it. But that’s me and EVERYone is different. That’s why there are so many options, but I love that you know what works for you. I hope you’re feeling better soon! (And yes, I can’t wait for Blissdom. It’s such a great experience)
