Valentine's classroom photo card from Shutterfly

Photo Cards Are In For Valentine’s Day!

January 25, 2013 by Michelle

Every year, we do Valentine’s at school for the wee ones to share with all their classmates.  I know we aren’t the only ones.  We’ve run the gamut from the picked up on clearance last year cheap pieces of tiny cardboard that we fold to making our own with homemade crayons.  This year, we’re doing Shutterfly photo cards for Valentine’s Day instead.

And you know how much easier they are?  And they’re pretty awesome looking, too,  offering over 50 new styles.  Last year, one of the families in Mister Man’s class made an iPod valentine, which was amazing.  I thought about doing something equally cool this year (read: copying the idea), but I’m quickly realizing that I don’t have the time to make 50 of them this year.  Or maybe I’m just lacking the patience?

The 2013 Shutterfly Valentine’s collection now has classroom cards, which is right up my alley.  The designs are great, both boy and girl type designs available, and there are designs available both for younger and older kids.  The cards are $0.96 apiece for 75 cards ($1.11 for the 25 quantity that I would probably order) and come with both photos in the card or without photos (so you could use the same card multiple years!).

The flat cards are printed on 110 pound cardstock, so they are wonderfully sturdy.  And because they are cardstock, it’s easy for you to write on the cards, something you can’t do with photo paper.  Children can still personalize the cards, just as they do with the more traditional Valentine’s cards.  There are  9 designs in the classroom collection and three new 6×8 designs.  And of course there are options in four sizes – 6×8, 5×7, 4×8, 5×5, 4×5 – with both flat and folded options.

I think I’ve found the perfect cards for the wee ones.  Little Miss will love this joke one, as she’s always telling everyone knock knock jokes – and I can’t wait to choose the perfect photo of her to put in it.  And Mister Man will enjoy the one with the large photo of him in the background.  I’m sure he’ll make a sign or show one of his favorite creations in the photo, but he’ll also appreciate that he still gets to write who the card is to.

So all I need to do is take a photo – something I do on a regular basis – and upload it. And order. Yes, that’s definitely much easier than the iPhone Valentine I was considering making. Consider me sold! So what are you doing for your Valentine’s cards this year?

Being Shutterfly, of course while there are more than 50 Valentine photo cards to choose from, there are a ton more gift options beyond “just” the cards.  I love the photo cubes as an idea of something to give my husband for Valentine’s Day for him to then take into work and put on his desk.  There are also photo mugs like my friend gave all the FnBers for Christmas, which we adore.  And if we were an iFamily, I would love to make a photo iPhone case.  I have several friends who have photo cases, and they are so much fun.  The new twist on photos from Shutterfly is desktop plaques.  Instead of putting photos into a frame, you simply create the image(s) on a plaque which has a built-in easel so you don’t have to go out and buy a new frame (plus, they’re 20% off until February 1).  I think it’s brilliant.

There are all sorts of neat Valentine’s gifts available from Shutterfly, and I’m excited to try them out – especially the classroom Valentine’s cards.  But wait… you can, too!  I am giving away 50 – 4×5 Stationery Cards (these are small classroom cards) and  1 – 5.5×5.5 Desktop Plaque to one lucky person.  I’m doing a quick giveaway so that you have time to order before Valentine’s Day!

So what do you have to do to win?  First of all, let me stress that you must follow all the rules. If you do not follow the rules, your entry will not count!

In the interest of full disclosure, I am receiving 50 4×5 stationery classroom cards and 5×5 desktop plaque from Shutterfly in compensation for this campaign.  That said, all opinions remain my own.

I would buy a life size photo of my F&B friends so I could post it on my wall in my room. That would motivate me to get stuff done during the week! I would get them a copy, too. 😉
